Since Valentine's Day

Here are a few shots of our sweet kiddos on Valentine's Day.

On Valentine's Day, Jason brought me a very large Hershey's Special Dark. Yum. Then he made a special steak dinner for Gabby and me. Also yum.

The next morning, Jason got very sick. Not yum. Then the next day, I got very sick. Definitely not yum.

Then the next day (Tuesday, 2/17 - for those who are counting) Jason was in great pain. The doctor diagnosed him with dumping. Stop. Not what you think. The virus put his stomach into overdrive and dumped lots of acid into his intestines. He was given meds and started to feel better, but never quite got comfortable. Then Wednesday, he's still hurting. By Thursday, he was really hurting and running a fever of 103. By noon, we were in for bloodwork and C/T scans. Around 3, we get the call to come back to the hospital for surgery. By 6, Jason is having holes punched into his belly. And that was a very good thing, because the appendix had ruptured.

Jason is recovering remarkably well. He can't lift much of anything for another week, and he's tired. Big whoop. We are so glad he's okay and not in pain!

Tons of people have helped us out and prayed for Jason. So, I have a lot of thank yous to get out -- and I won't do it here like I'm some Oscar winner who refuses to heed the cue card that says "Shut up now." I'm making the rounds, and in another year, I should have properly thanked folks for all the blessings.

  1. God is sooo good! I'm thankful to Him for Jason getting diagnosed and getting the help he needed just in time. I'll be praying for his speedy recovery. Tell him that he doesn't have to lift anything to praise God! He can do that right in the daddy chair. :-)

  2. Truly, God did answer our prayers. When we met with the surgeon pre-surgery, he told us all the possible complications. It was not pretty, and so we prayed for the simplest, best outcome. We were definitely granted that!

neat pic's Larlo! It's amazing how little Benjamin has changed in 5 weeks. you are correct that clicking on the slide show cuts off the right side of your pics (unless Gabby was really staring into the crib at a headless baby body) -- but it you just click on the picture directly, it's takes you to the Picasa album page and the full shots.
We are also thankful for Jason's recovery. Did they fix all those other problems while they had him in surgery, or do we just have to put up with those til the next time? And let me know when he can jump again -- that'll be my signal that he's back to his normal self and I can stop being so nice!
Can't wait to see all of y'all next week.
