Lots of ways to look at Gabby's time in this world. Eight months, 2/3 of a year... you can keep going with that if you want. Did I mention I'm studying to take a middle school math teachers' exam?

The camera batteries are still down. Sorry. Here's a picture of Gabby a month ago, and she mostly looks the same. As for the requests, yes, I'll try to get a shot of her crawling up on the page, and no, none of you want to see a picture of my foot after surgery. Okay, some of you who like really gory movies and got an A on the cat dissection in anatomy might like to see my foot. For the rest of you, I will refrain from posting such grotesqueness. (Is that a word?) Imagine pulling up Documenting... expecting to see cute chubby cheeks and sweet blue eyes, but instead being accosted by a giant, bloody mass. I don't have enough friends to risk that kind of journalism. By the way, it is really gross for those of you who like that kind of thing. It was big enough to have had a skin graft. Yeah.

Plenty of things have happened since Gabrielle has come into our lives, but I'd say today has been the saddest day I can think of these in these last eight months. Today, Jason and I attended the funeral of a friend from college. His name was Matt Cress, and he was an amazing guy. We ate lunch with probably 25 friends after the burial, and it was so odd. How awesome to be reunited, but what horrid circumstances under which to meet. I think that the message given during the funeral applies here: Though the details of life distract, we have to keep working to choose what's best ... and that is to give glory to God. So I hope we gave glory to God today. And here's hoping you did, too.

  1. Hi Lutzes,
I heard about Matt. That is so sad. Jason, didn't he go to high school with you and Bradley? My husband and I have been praying for his family. I can't imagine how hard this must be for them.

On a lighter note, Gabby is just gorgeous. I love that red hair! We're coming into town this weekend and we'll be there for two weeks. Maybe we could arrange a play date??? I feel like I know Gabby having visited your blog so often!
